Benidorm Costa Blanca
Villa and Apartment Holidays
Benidorm offers something for everyone - it is the perfect holiday destination on the Costa Blanca, on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. The millions visitors to Benidorm every year are testament to the city's outstanding organization and facilities. You can
rent an apartment right in the centre of Benidorm or hire a beautiful villa on Benidorm's outskirts or in a rural area within 10 minutes drive
Benidorm is about 20 minutes drive north of Alicante and has excellent road communications. The city has an amazing number of restaurants, clubs, shops, pubs and bars ensuring
Benidorm will always remain popular with tourists from Spain, UK, Belgium and Holland.
Benidorm's growth in popularity began with package holidays, and Benidorm is still popular today all year round because of its unsurpassed night-life offered in the bars and clubs - often with free cabaret acts.
Benidorm is divided into two, Poniente towards the south and Levante to the north, both with beautiful sandy beaches awarded the prestigious EU Blue Flag. A towering fountain in the sea and an uninhabited island a few miles offshore create dramatic centrepieces to the view.
The Playa de Levante can get very crowded in high season but is backed by an attractive broad promenade with dozens of bars, cafes and restaurants. The Playa de Poniente is quieter but is well known for its fabulous sunsets.
Old Benidorm, just behind the rocky promontory separating the two beaches, is set in narrow streets around the castle, where English-owned pubs and bars have long been part of the scenery. But Benidorm's real nightlife is to be found in the clubs, discos pubs, cabaret bars and cafes to the east and along the Levante beach, especially the major attractions in the Rincon de Loix area. Levante is the perfect place to experience the northern club circuit humour and karaoke. The Square, behind the Hotel Marina, is popular among the younger, international set who enjoy Benidorm's buzzing disco pubs.
It is well worth taking a boat trip to the island set in the centre of the bay. The 10-minute trip offers splendid views of Benidorm's skyline, and the waters around the island are a marine reserve. You can even take an underwater trip in the Aquascope for a close-up view of schools of fish and colourful sea life in their natural habitat. After the trip, visit the bar or hike the island paths before returning to the mainland.
During the summer there are boat excursions from Benidorm to Calpe offering fabulous views of this beautiful coastline. Benidorm is the perfect resort if you enjoy water sports - during high season the cable ski operates just offshore from Rincón de Loix, or you hire boats, jet skis or take a diving course. Benidorm also has several mini golf courses.
The mountains surrounding Benidorm give it an excellent year-round micro-climate, with typically over 3,000 hours of sunshine each year, and average winter temperatures of 15 degrees C and 26 degrees C in the summer.
Benidorm has an ever-growing number of skyscrapers such as the 4-star Gran Hotel Bali. At 186 meters tall it was the tallest skyscraper in Spain for five years, until it was overtaken by the CTBA towers in Madrid. But all the buildings in Benidorm must have an adjacent area of leisure land by law ensuring the city avoided the construction excesses seen in other parts of Spain, and it remains to this day the only Spanish city with this law.
Benidorm is famous for its Benidorm Palace with one of the largest indoor stages in Europe. This traditional-style cabaret-theatre is home of the glittering 3 hour, Las Vegas-style show with Spanish dancers and Flamenco, jugglers and magicians plus a live dance band. Admission to the show includes your first drink and you can also enjoy a splendid dinner during the show.
The Costa Blanca Casino, on the road between Benidorm and Villajoyosa, is one of Spain's largest casinos, and includes a good restaurant and bar. The dress code is smart casual.
Every summer Benidorm celebrates the International Song Festival, a song contest where both international and Spanish celebrities such as Julio Iglesias, Raphael and the Duo Dinamico became famous. Benidorm has several excellent family-oriented theme parks, including Terra Mitica and Terra Natura at the foot of the mountain, a short distance inland from Benidorm, and Aqualandia and Mundomar in the Levante area of the city.
Alicante airport is less than 30 minutes away, and Benidorm's excellent motorway provides easy connection to nearby towns and the rest of Spain.
