Villamartin Golf Course was designed by Paul Putman, and is
one of the finest golf and residential complexes on Spain's Costa Blanca, having hosted the Mediterranean Open in 1994. Villamartin is less than a mile from the Mediterranean Sea at the southern end of the Costa Blanca.
Villamartin is conveniently located on the Costa Blanca between Torrevieja and Murcia airport at San Javier, and Alicante Airport is just 30 minutes away by car.
Villamartin is par 72 and the Golf Course measures 6130 metres. Built on hilly ground on Spain's Costa Blanca, the course is set in lush natural parkland, with olive trees and colourful oleander lining the fairways. The front nine holes are at the highest point of the course with spectacular sea views. The second nine holes are mostly set in valleys with ravines coming into play on several holes.
Villamartin's signature hole, often referred to as Spain's best par 3, is 230 yards from the elevated back tee and is clear over a valley and a ravine to a two tiered green surrounded by trees and bunkers. There are well placed bunkers and fast greens, making Villamartin a challenging course for all playing levels.
There are many trees around this superb course, and the water hazards and slopes can make your golf more challenging and interesting. Playing over undulating fairways, no two holes are alike. A ravine comes into play on the inward part of the course and the par 5 14th and the par 3 17th are spectacular holes.
Villamartin lies at the southern tip of the Costa Blanca, between Alicante and Murcia, about 20Kms from the historic inland town of Orihuela, famous for its market gardens and splendid baroque cathedral. This stretch of coastline is studded with small bays, and is home to two other championship courses - Campoamor and Las Ramblas.
Villamartin has grown into an attractive Mediterranean village of 1500 apartments, townhouses and villas with two excellent 18 hole golf courses at its heart - the original Club de Golf Villamartin and the new Las Ramblas de Orihuela. The complex has a central square with a bank, supermarket, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Villamartin is recognised as one of the most prestigious golf courses in Spain, with all the amenities you would expect from a development
of this standard. The Costa Blanca climate is wonderful, the beaches are not crowded and there are several lively towns and numerous beaches nearby.
